Even as commerce has emerged as the top-performing stream, the result of commerce students is worst in past four years. Out of 60,637 students who appeared for the board exam, as many as 54895 students cleared the exam. The overall pass percentage for commerce is at 90.38%. It is nearly 10 percentage points higher than the overall pass percentage of 80.15%. But last year, the commerce stream registered a 91.48% pass percentage while in 2020, as many as 93.26% of students cleared the exam. In 2019, the number was at 93.02%.

Bihar Board conducts an improvement test every year for the candidates who are failed to secure the minimum qualifying marks in one or more subjects or overall percentage. When a student obtains a score below specific numbers than the minimum qualifying number, they will get the grace mark of 10%. But, when a student scores low marks in one or more than one paper, they will be counted as failed in that or those papers. So, they have to sit for the improvement test to secure the minimum number and pass the examination. The board usually organizes the test 1 month after releasing the result. So, as far as it is now, it is expected that the board will take the test in May 2022.
